Mission Overview
Ariane 6 is set to launch NEXUS-1 from Guiana Space Centre, French Guiana on December 31, 2027 at 12:00 AM UTC, with Arianespace as the launch provider. The Ariane 6 will carry the NEXUS-1 payload, operated by Katalyst Space Technologies, into Geostationary Orbit. Arianespace's launch of NEXUS-1 aboard the Ariane 6 vehicle will mark the beginning of a new mission extension service. The mission is scheduled to deliver the NEXUS-1 robotic space vehicle to Geostationary Orbit, where it will operate.
The payload, NEXUS-1, is a robotic space vehicle that will dock with other satellites to install hardware, reposition spacecraft, and extend mission life, offering a faster, lower-cost alternative to replacement of satellites, and Arianespace's Ariane 6 will play a crucial role in delivering it to the targeted Geostationary Orbit. The NEXUS-1 payload, launched by Arianespace's Ariane 6, will initially support government missions, including installing a sensor on a Space Force satellite to detect and identify nearby spacecraft, before transitioning to commercial servicing operations for communications satellite operators, with the Ariane 6 launch vehicle enabling the NEXUS-1 payload to reach its intended orbit and begin delivering these services.
