Mission Overview
Spectrum, provided by Isar Aerospace, is set to launch the AOS-Demo & Precursor mission from Andøya Spaceport on December 31, 2028 at 12:00 AM UTC. Isar Aerospace will utilize its Spectrum launch vehicle to deliver the mission's payload into a Sun-Synchronous Orbit. This orbit is targeted for the mission due to its suitability for Earth science applications. Spectrum will carry two satellites for the Norwegian Space Agency’s Arctic Ocean Surveillance program.
Aboard the rocket, AOS-Demo and AOS-Precursor satellites are designed to support the program's objectives. AOS-Demo, built by Eidel, will demonstrate maritime monitoring technologies, while AOS-Precursor, built by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, will track maritime activities in the Arctic as the first operational satellite of the system. Isar Aerospace's Spectrum launch vehicle will deliver these satellites to the Sun-Synchronous Orbit, enabling consistent monitoring of the Arctic region. The Norwegian Space Agency operates the AOS-Demo & Precursor program, with the Spectrum rocket playing a key role in its success.
